Paulie the kitten

Scooped Paulie after a bit of an incident....he ran into a gang way (walkway in between houses here in the city, Chicago)...and there was a dog in the gangway!! The dog picked him up...but luckily the screams of a fellow trapper alerted the dogs owner and she was able to rescue the kitten. Paulie wasn't hurt...but it was quite the adrenaline rush!

These cats have been through enough!!

They were all about to be euthanized when a kind person stepped up for them...but their current foster situation is only temporary. Please read each of their bios below and get in touch if you can foster or adopt any of these cats. Please copy, paste and cross-post far and wide!

Pinky and Patty
Despite their age, these two sisters are tiny. Relinquished at just 4 weeks, these siblings arrived at a local shelter with upper respiratory infections and were scheduled to be euthanized. Miraculously these little, grey and white kitties managed to survive, spending months huddled together in their tiny cages – the confinement stunting their growth. Finally, after 5 months, a compassionate veterinary assistant removed them from the shelter and placed them in foster care, but they are still in desperately in need of a stable home where they can heal and grow. If you are able to house these adorable, playful and extremely affectionate kitties, either temporarily or permanently, they promise to return the love tenfold!

Cody
Once upon a time, poor Cody was safe in his home. Then one day, his owner decided they didn’t have time for him and couldn’t pay for his injured foot or skin infection. They gave this handsome, mellow and extremely tolerant 4.5 year-old up to a shelter. Cody endured a year in a cage, foot left untreated, causing him pain and stress. Somewhere along the way, he was put on the “euthanasia list” but was neither killed nor loved, with the exception of a few compassionate volunteers. His condition worsened until finally, a compassionate volunteer took him home to heal. Cody can’t stay with her though, and is looking for his own home. He does need medical attention, but he has endless love and affection to give in return in addition to many healthy years ahead of him with the right care. Cody gets along with all cats, and just wants to be next to someone who cares. Can you help Cody?

Georgio
Are you looking for the kitty equivalent of Curious George? This jet-black, panther-look-alike is sweet silly and inventive. Need a buddy to hang out while you brush your teeth in the morning? Georgio may just swipe the brush and join you! Little Georgio was slated to be euthanized after the shelter he was relinquished to decided he wasn’t recovering fast enough from an upper respiratory infection he suffered from. He tried to tell them all he needed was a little medication and a lot of love and he’d be fine. Other than the occasional sneeze and minor skin infection, Georgio is as happy and active as ever. Can you help Georgio get well? He desperately needs a home to heal in. If you are willing to foster this nutty boy and save his life, he promises to make you laugh every day!

Sheena
If you’re looking for a snuggle-mate and willing companion, Sheena, an adorable 10-month old calico is for you! She’s playful, loyal and extremely loving and cuddly, but no one got a chance to see the real Sheena at the shelter. She was given up when she developed an upper respiratory infection she couldn’t shake after living on the streets for so long. Once at the shelter, the stress of being confined to a cage for months left her with ringworm, a non-serious skin fungus and a chronic “cold” and she was scheduled to be euthanized. She is in a home for now, but without a home to recover in, her days are still numbered. Can you be Sheena’s one and only?

Visby!

We're fostering a dog that was a foreclosure victim - she's a doll, I love her and wish she could stay forever.

She gets a long with kids, and cats, but isn't quite potty-trained yet.

Everyone needs a Cupcake!

We all know my home (yard) tends to be the dumping ground for animals - but there also seems to be an sign (only visible to animals) that says, "Free Love and Help Here"...and they find their way to us....as is what happened to Cupcake.

Cupcake showed up, happy to see me, greeting me by licking my face clean. I immediately had her spayed and posted signs that I found a "pit bull type dog".
I received one call within the same day as posting flyers - they were looking for a male, brown/black (some brindling), the dog was stolen from their yard. I apologized and wished them luck - as that was not the dog I found.

I didn't receive any calls for two days, then I received another call, but the person was asking me questions as I was trying to ask them questions...basically they were trying to get info out of me about the dog before giving me a description of the dog "they lost". There was a TV in the background (very loud) and kids squealing/playing. They ended up describing a dog that is mostly white with some brown/black spots. I told them I didn't have that dog.....20 minutes later someone else calls - different voice, but same background noise and gave me a different description....not the dog - but sooo shady!!!! That got me mad....

Fast forward....We kept Cupcake at our home, walked her, care for her, and fell in love with her (ok, I fell in love with her, not Frank)....and then we find out she's ANTI-CAT! Cupcake will clear a 5ft fence to get to a cat (specifically Golden Boy) - she's like a laser when she sees a cat. She started showing agression towards my cats from outside (looking inside the windows to my home) - she bashed her head into my window thinking she could just grab one. Luckily, a newer small rescue group met and tested Cupcake....and they accepted her!!

Cupcake is currently being kept in a boarding facility - but with minimal kennel time! She is in playgroup with other dogs for at least 5 hours a day!!...and while the office is open she is up front in the office with the staff and another dog that is available for adoption!! Maximum exposure! Cupcake is having her petrait taken by Sheri Berliner later this week too!

Cupcake is in good health just a little underweight, the vet said she is just full grown, 1.5 yrs old. She has had a litter of pups before - but she is now spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
